2012 Skin Resolutions:

December 26, 2011 | Categories: Skin Care, Uncategorized

2012 is here and so are yearly resolutions. We all have bad skin habits to break, so why not add some skin care resolutions? Below is a list of our top 5 bad habits to break for the New Year.

1. Stop touching your face

Trying to self treat blemishes or other imperfections on your face can mostly lead to making the problem worse. Stay away from facial extractors available in your local drugstore, and leave it to a professional.

2. Appointments

For healthy skin, be sure to keep monthly appointments with your aesthetician, dermatologist, or doctor. And don’t forget to make an appointment for a yearly mole check up!

3. Stop sleeping with your makeup on

Once you get in the habit of cleansing your skin before bedtime, it will become routine and your skin will thank you!

4. Sunscreen

Levels of SPF can be found in almost any beauty product these days, so there really aren’t any excuses on why you are skipping this life saving step.

5. Set your own skin care goals

Setting skin care goals can only lead to you fully achieving what you would like most for your skin. We all have them, we just need to stick with them and the results will truly be rewarding…a younger looking you!

Best wishes for the New Year and new improved you!

Winterize your skin: Chemically with Peels

November 18, 2011 | Categories: Enhancements, Skin Care, Uncategorized

Chemical Peels~ are some of the simplest and most effective treatments for achieving that radiant glowing skin. Not only can you expect smooth and clear skin from these treatments, but chemical peels can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels work by ‘burning’ the top layer of the skin with an acid solution; this slowly removes dead skin cells and the outer layer of skin to reveal a softer and smoother layer underneath. With some many different variations of chemicals to choose from, such as  glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, etc. The options for getting beautiful skin in a few short weeks is endless. If you’re looking for a dramatic ‘lift’ to your appearance without expensive surgery, chemical peels could be just what you’ve been looking for to get that youthful look back!

Here are some great benefits of chemical peels:

  • Reduction or removal of blotchy patches.
  • Eliminating sun damage and evening skin tone.
  • Acne management and scar reduction.
  • Improved collagen growth and smoother skin.
  • Better skin quality.

Here at Skinetics we offer many different peels~ Here are a few of our most popular………

DermaSweep™

Exfoliation, circulation, rejuvenation! The DermaSweep™ is an innovative particle-free skin revitalization system that uses bristles and vacuum for a more effective exfoliation, as well as circulation. After the dead skin is removed from the exfoliation process, the skin is then infused with a specific solution like Vitamin C or Salicylic Acid for total skin rejuvenation. Each treatment is customized depending on skin type and desired level of exfoliation. The DermaSweep™ treats early signs of aging, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, photo-damage, acne, acne scars, surgical scars and dehydrated skin.

Light Complexion Peel

Melanage Peel

The Melanage Peel is a Hydroquinone and Retinoid masque for the treatment of severe hyperpigmentation or pigmented blemishes on the skin. This superficial peel is designed to improve the texture and appearance of the skin, which involves an in-office chemical application. After two weeks, a follow-up treatment of the Oxygenating Peel and Dermaplaning is performed to enhance and rejuvenate the skin. Post home care regimen is included.

Finally, Cryogenic Therapy is performed to help relieve inflammation and cool the skin.

MicroPeel Plus®

The MicroPeel Plus® is a fifteen-minute in-office procedure that will help smooth fine lines and even skin discoloration while reducing the appearance of acne scars and environmental damage to the skin. Available in two concentrations of salicylic acid, the MicroPeel Plus® can be tailored to fit different skin types and goals.

The Secret To Your Skin’s Success……

July 6, 2011 | Categories: Enhancements, Skin Care, Uncategorized

• It does matter what you eat and drink, because your skin is the largest organ in your body. It does show signs of any abuse, so we recommend you treat it like you would your best friend.

• Sleeping with makeup on is not ok, so please take that extra few minutes for yourself and do your recommended routine.

• We recommend looking at your lifestyle and finding what works better for your evening. For example: if you’re one that falls asleep on the couch, then you will need to do your routine after dinner or right when you walk in the door from work.

• Tanning beds are so 1980’s, so remember tan skin is damaged skin. If you want a little color, then try a spray tan or an over the counter self-tanning lotion. We recommend asking for a Level 1 or 2 depending on your skin type for spray tanning. Remember to always exfoliate your skin beforehand.

• Hats are a great accessory for your outfit and your skin. Visors and baseball caps are cute, but do not provide adequate coverage. We recommend a larger brimmed hat that is made of a tightly woven material and/ or a cotton material. Please feel free to bring your hats in for our stamp of approval.

• Applying sunscreen once daily is not enough. We recommend and so does the FDA that sunscreen of an SPF 30 or higher be applied every 40-80 minutes when in direct sunlight.

• Hormones, Hormones, Hormones… They rule our lives and our skin. We recommend having your hormone levels checked yearly. Everything from acne, pigmentation and excessive facial hair are all a result of hormonal changes.

Here’s to looking and feeling and great!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mothers and friends.

May 8, 2011 | Categories: Uncategorized

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don’t eat quiche;
They don’t have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn’t come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don’t want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up….

Real Mothers sometimes ask ‘Why me?’
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, ‘Because I love you best..’

Real Mothers know that a child’s growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade…
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother……..

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE – My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE – My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE – My Mother doesn’t know everything!

14 YEARS OF AGE – My Mother? She wouldn’t have a clue.
.
16 YEARS OF AGE – Mother? She’s so five minutes ago.

18 YEARS OF AGE – That old woman? She’s way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE – Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE – Before we decide, let’s get Mom’s opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE – Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE – Wish I could talk it over with Mom…

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair..

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!
